Ministry of Commerce welcome “Virtual Export Mission of Cambodian Products to the Middle East and North Africa markets”

Phnom Penh: On September 20, 2021, Cambodia Pepper and Spices Federation (CPSF) in collaboration with Feed the Future Cambodia Harvest II “Harvest II” recently launched “Export Mission to the Middle East and North Africa”, a new digital export program. The event was organize presided over by H.E. Seang Thay, Secretary of State, Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Nimish Jhaveri, Chief of Party from Harvest II, President of Cambodia Pepper and Spices Federation Mr. Mak Ny, Oknha, ladies and gentlemen from private sector, donors and developing partners with total 65 participants.

“Export Mission to the Middle East and North Africa” is a digital format created to promote qualifies Cambodian SMEs to participate virtual exhibition in Dubai Organic & Natural Products Expo in December 2021 in Dubai, UAE. CPSF was selected qualifies Cambodian SMEs in the field of fruits & vegetable, pepper & spies, processing food & beverages and grains from 25 enterprises to attend the mission as a pilot project targeting to Middle East and North Africa due to this market is a potential markets and has a big demand of safety foods.

H.E. Seang Thay, Secretary of State, speaking on be haft of Ministry of Commerce express his congratulate and supported the CPSF for their advancement to create this digital platform to promote Cambodian products in parallel to the context of Industrial 4.0 that the world is adopted today.

His Excellency Secretary of State has optimistic that the mission will become a new hope and bring the world getting to know Cambodian products and will be a bridge to connect Cambodian producers and traders with buyers in Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

At the same time, Excellency gave his advice to all 25 SMEs who join the mission that to accomplish the successful in business and maintain the markets producers/traders should pay bear in mind the four principles. i). Products quality, ii). Safety, standardization and hygiene, iii). Good packaging with informative and iv). Price competitive.

MENA is a huge marke t, 92% of consumer’s products was imported from the regions, 60% is natural and organic products with high standard and safety.

Dubai, UAE is a regional hub for business and investment cover for Asia, Europe and North Africa and the 3rd largest importing country for re-export to the outside world. We expect that the “Virtual Export Mission of Cambodian Products to the Middle East and North Africa markets” could pave the ways for Cambodian SEMs build a bridge to new markets as well as allowing Cambodian products getting to know internationally. At the same time, the mission could build capacity and provide new concept to SMEs to develop products and their company to step onto international stage.
